FLORAL DESIGN
PORTFOLIO
My Floral Journey
My passion for florals has been lifelong and have been an integral part of my artistic journey. I am a graduate of the Floral Design Certificate Program at Mount Royal University and have crafted fresh floral bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and decor installations for over half a dozen weddings and special events. I am well versed in flower care, wiring and most of all, creative design. As an intuitive artist, my creative process flows to my floral design. I specialize in romantic themes and colour schemes. I also have years of experience in event coordination including large scale corporate and wedding events as well as industry trade shows. Together with my art and graphic design skills, I am a "Jill of all trades" when it comes to streamlining your floral or event needs.
I also enjoy permanent botanical florals that are everlasting. I have crafted many home decor arrangements, wedding arch florals, holiday decor and centerpieces that can be enjoyed for years to come or repurposed after the event. See more on "permanent botanical" florals.
Part of my love for floral design stems from my love for gardens and garden design. I am adept in landscape design for the harsh climate of zone 3b and above specializing in perennials and shrubs for low maintenance care. See more on Garden Design.
At this stage in my artistic journey I am open to crafting florals on a freelance, part time or contract basis. I am also available to assist other Floral Designers and Event Coordinators for as little as a few hours to helping with an entire event. Does your client also want custom invitations complete with their own wedding logo, custom wax seal? I can help you craft a fully curated experience for your clients. Need decor transportation assistance? I am experienced in trailering and can provide an enclosed 18' cargo trailer perfect for moving photo prop furniture and large floral installations like arches all in one piece. I am able to provide services within the Calgary, Cochrane, Canmore and Banff areas of Alberta.

PERMANANT BOTANICAL FLORALS
Permanent Botanical Florals
Permanent Botanical florals (also known as "Real-Touch" or "Silks" are a wonderful and everlasting alternative to fresh florals and have become increasingly popular especially for weddings as they can be resold or repurposed after the event and crafted into an arrangement for your home that provides a lasting reminder of your special day. I have created many floral arrangements for interior design, weddings, trade shows, holiday installations and more. From large arches, centerpieces, bouquets, arrangements and more, I can help you create a specific mood for your interior, holiday or event.

GARDEN DESIGN
My Garden Journey
I have always loved gardens. Even when I was serving in the military, I would seek out the lilacs on the Base as a place of refuge and peace. Every new destination included a search for botanical or public gardens I could visit while on leave. When I finally owned my own property I began my garden experiments in earnest. I quickly discovered I loved wild, romantic garden designs featuring soothing colour palettes of pinks, purple, blues, pinks and whites. Every once in a while a tame yellow would come into the design for contrast. I learned that Alberta is a challenging zone to garden in with my current location zoned 3b. A tough, high elevation only 40 minutes to the Rocky Mountains with chinooks in winter causing wild temperature fluctuations of 20 degrees or more in a single day makes for a difficult environment for plants to thrive in. It has taken me many years to discover the plant varieties that will survive here. My garden philosophy is to plant with the intention of long lived enjoyment and minimal care. I generally only use hardy perennials, shrubs and trees. Even my planters will feature roses and perennials that can be repurposed in the fall and planted into the garden to minimize waste.
Garden design is a fluid art form, ever changing with the seasons and the weather. I enjoy helping others discover their colour palette and choosing plants best suited to their space (yes, I am often that lady in the garden centre who can't help but offer advice when I hear a question.)
I am open to one off plant selection or garden design consultations to help you create your own oasis.
